Lincolnshire Apprenticeship Champion Awards | Gifts from Handpicked Blog
The Lincolnshire Apprentice Champion Awards 2023 kicked off on the 18th of May, we had the pleasure of attending this wonderful event and experiencing what it had to offer. These awards are fairly new and have had 2 awards ceremonies within Lincolnshire, they were created by Lincolnshire county council to celebrate apprentices and the businesses that employ them. It is important to dedicate the time to recognising the hard work that apprentices and their employees take to making hard working individuals that can then go onto full time employment.
Gifts from Handpicked has taken on 3 apprentices, a handful of work experience workers and some traineeships. With 2 apprenticeships going on to taking on full time jobs that have been a huge success at Gifts from Handpicked. From all of this experience of apprenticeships and their benefits, we would like to think we are pretty good with our apprentice stance!
Gifts from Handpicked were nominated for two of the awards within the Lincolnshire Apprenticeship Champion Awards, one of them being the Employer Champion and the other being the Apprentice Champion Award. We are so grateful to have been shortlisted in these awards, which meant we could attend the Lincolnshire Apprenticeship Champion Awards.
The evening was a really lovely experience and featured drinks, canapes and even Radio Lincolnshires's Melvyn Prior! We heard of a variety of stories from businesses, big and small, and their experiences with apprenticeships. There was also a range of colleges at the awards evening, as well as a talk from the Co Op about their apprenticeships. The awards evening was really interesting to listen to and definitely gave us all food for thought!
At the awards we were given these wonderful brochures which included all of the shortlisted nominees. There were a wide variety of businesses all around Lincolnshire that were included in this brochure, as well as the judging panel and sponsors for the event. We were able to follow the evening through this brochure and find out all about some of the incredible businesses that had been shortlisted. It was extremely insightful to see the vast amount of companies that use apprentices all around Lincolnshire, it just goes to show how effective and important they are!
The venue was intimate and lovely, with music throughout and canapes to keep us going! Followed by tea and coffees to quench our thirst. After everyone was sat and ready to start the evening, we waited patiently for our shortlisted categories to be read out.
After a hand trembling wait, we are proud to say that we won a Special Commendation award for the Employer Apprentice Champion Award!
We were so thrilled to win this award and it meant a lot to us that we were able to showcase our love for apprenticeships and what they can offer. Emma ( our customer service and content creator ) collected the award which was a very full circle moment as Emma started at Gifts from Handpicked on an apprenticeship with Lagat College.
This will give you an idea of the trophy that we received upon us winning the award! It was amazing to come back to the office and add this spectacular trophy to our vast array of awards. All in all, it was a super successful night, with Gifts from Handpicked walking away with the Employer Apprentice Champion Special Commendation and Charlotte being highly commended in her group. It was an honour to be able to attend these awards and to celebrate the night with the team, we always like getting out of the office and letting our hair down. Once again, we could not do any of this without our incredible team and the support of everyone around us, another award to be extremely proud of.
